Nicholas Naval Cathedral of The Epiphany

This marvellous cathedral is the main landmark in the area around Sennaya square. But the most interesting thing is inside it’s walls. The decoration of this cathedral is wonderful, you won’t forget that interior! Entrance is free but please keep in mind this is a working church so they may not let you in if they have some ceremony or if you are not dressed according to dresscode.

Marvellous cathedral

Queen Elizabeth’s barroque style is here in it’s beauty. Just look at this miracle – and don’t forget to take a walk in the park that is around it.

Great interior of gold

Interiors are even more impressive: tons of gold everywhere, icons are beatiful, it is always quiet and peaceful inside, only the preachers may pray or sign loud, others are whispering.

Dress code

Orthodox traditions are strict about dresscode. First of all, no shorts or T-shirts or mini-skirts allowed. Men should take hats off, ladies should have some hat on their heads (or at least put on a shawl). Any formal wear is OK for churches so you can jump in on your way to the theatre for example. Don’t worry too much though, everyone is used to tourists in shorts and sandals here, but still they may not let you in if something serious is happening inside (a cermon or whaever).
