This is one of the oldest national theatres in Russia, it exists from 1756. Nowadays it survived a recoinstruction and is now open. The most famous of it’s shows is, however, a Swan Lake ballet. Other famous ballets here are “Macbeth” and “Snow White”. The building itself is beatiful and location is perfect (3 minutes from Nevskiy prospect). The surrounding area is also marvelous so plan your route to pass by this theatre and Rossi street.

Great shows

Swan Lake ballet is the best known show here. But there are tens of different plays, operas and ballets by russian and foreign authors. The most vivd part of the season is September-October, when this theatre holds the “Alexandrinsky Festival”.

Marvellous building and surroundings

The building and the street after it were constructed by famous italian architector Carlos Rossi. Theatre faces an Ostrovskogo square. There is a small beatiful garden on the side of Nevskiy prospect. Those places are just marvellous! Take a walk around even if you hate theatres.

Tickets available online

You can get tickets online thanks to the Internet. They are quite expensive, but it is nearly impossible to buy them at cheaper price online without knowing Russian and paying in rubles.

Dress code

Please wear a dark formal suit and a tie or an evening dress in this theatre. Looking formal here is not a must, but still try to dress properly not to be a black sheep here. It is a serious place where no one wears t-shirts.
